Public Hearing on pedestrian & bicycle projects

The Madison Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission will hold a public hearing to receive comments on potential pedestrian and bicycle projects the City should consider undertaking in the 2017-2019 Capital Budgets to increase opportunities for walking and bicycling in Madison.

The hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in Room 260 of the Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Make Music Madison, June 21

Registration is open for the 4th annual Make Music Madison, the citywide outdoor musical celebration held on the summer solstice, June 21.

Musicians of all ages, skill levels and musical styles are invited to perform. Last year 320 acts (nearly 1,000 musicians) played at 110 stages across town. Registration is free and easy, and offers performers a great array of venues to select from.

Or join the fun by hosting a concert at your favorite outdoor space. Past stages include Bear Mound Park, Northside Farmers Market, Michael’s Frozen Custard, Hatch Art House, UW Memorial Union Terrace, Few St. Block Party, The Rigby Pub & Grill, Segoe Park, Hatch Art House, The Traveling Pontoon Stage, Bob & Nancy’s Balcony, ZuZu Café, Prairie Unitarian Universalist Society, and Fire Station #3. Make Music Madison’s online registration system makes it easy to find and book performers. There are no registration fees or city permits needed.

MSCR East to Hold Open House on Friday, March 4

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is hosting an Open House at the new MSCR East program site, 4620 Cottage Grove Road, Madison.  The event takes place on Friday, March 4, 4:30-7pm and showcases a variety of free, sample classes for youth and adults.  Metro Market is providing beverages. Sample fun activities, take tours and register for door prizes. This new facility has several activity rooms to hold MSCR classes for all ages.

Coyote sighting

Just a reminder to keep an eye out when you pets are outside, there was a coyote sighted on Vienna Lane on Tuesday night. Especially by the wooded areas of the neighborhood, and in the evenings, when they are more active.

East Madison Little League

East Madison Little League is now accepting registrations for the 2016 summer session.  EMLL offers baseball (boys & girls) and softball (girls) for ages 4 to 14.  They have 4 fully lit fields for 10 divisions of baseball & softball, located at 1010 North St, near Emerson Elementary.

First year Tee-ball players play for free.  Early bird discounts for registration before March 1st.
